Two outstanding members of the Dakota Team have become company directors. Nathan Beaubien and Jason Wahl are Lead Carpenters who have proven skills as managers in the often-challenging business of remodeling. They meet with the executive group to help make decisions that keep Dakota Builders, Inc. on top in the industry. Congratulations to us! Professional Remodeler has named Dakota builders, Inc. a 2003 BENCHMARK market Leader. We will be recognized in the December 2003 Professional Remodeler magazine and it's online sister publication HousingZone.com The final selection of 100 exemplary businesses across the company was based on "best practices" in craftsmanship, design, technology, innovation, marketing, education, and other areas of remodeling expertise. DBI is now a CPC. That means Pella Windows has officially certified us as a contractor (only on of just three Certified Pella Contractors in Tucson). Windows are important in a beautiful setting like ours with mountain views, and it makes sense to be technology-wise in our extreme climate. NAHB Fall Boards (National Association of Home Builders) took me to Boston September 17-20. I'm Remodelors Council trustee and on the CAPS (Certified Aging -in-Place Specialist) Board. My Remodelors 20 Club will take me back to the East Coast again in October. Our group of 10-15 business owners from all over the country get together and share ideas and help each other out with our business concerns. I'll be telling them about our new Dakota Built® strategies (see Q&A). The Remodelers Home Show is in Baltimore later in October.... and not much time to contemplate the falling leaves. The SAHBA Home Show captures our attention in October. I will be teaching some professional classes for remodelers on sales and marketing, and two classes for homeowners, one on the basics of remodeling and the other on modifications for "Aging-in-Place". The International Builder's Show is held in the same place two yars in a row, so we'll be heading to Las Vegas again in January. Last year Cindy and I got married there. This time it's going to be work, work, work. It's a time for learning.
